Cedar Cove was founded by William Pottorff following two tours of service in Vietnam. During his time overseas, he encountered tigers in their natural habitat and witnessed the devastating effects of poaching. Those experiences inspired a lifelong commitment to protecting big cats through conservation and education.
With the help of co-founder Shelly Tooley and a dedicated group of volunteers, William built Cedar Cove from the ground up. Today, the park provides visitors with meaningful opportunities to learn about big cats and the importance of protecting endangered wildlife.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization governed by a Board of Directors, Cedar Cove is dedicated to education, conservation, and exceptional animal care. Every visit, donation, membership, and volunteer helps support its mission.
Cedar Cove would not exist without the support of its community. Local businesses, civic organizations, schools, Scouts, students, and hundreds of volunteers have helped turn one person's vision into a lasting organization that continues to educate, inspire, and make a difference for wildlife.
